I've started my Alice In Wonderland kick again, so I'm crocheting some pillow covers to look like playing cards, but when I tried to whip up my own heart pattern it came out lop-sided. Does anyone know of a good heart pattern? Also, for the clubs symbol - I was thinking about doing some basic circles, then stitching them together and crocheting a little stem for the bottom part: this for reference if you're more visual. I imagine that would work, unless someone has a pattern for that too.
TIA! This comm has been such great help with everything, I love it!

Just showing off, I made this last night while my boyfriend was being very very ill. I had to stay up to look after him anyway so i thought i might as well do something constructive. I used a pattern i found on the net but adapted the tail part. hope you all like.

I am having trouble. I'm making a basic dc cloche hat as a first project.
Yesterday, I got a way through and found that was flared out to the extent that I was sure I'd made a mistake. The pattern is simple and after initial *aaaaargghh its gibberish* I saw that it was logical and pootled on. Although it's an American pattern and I'm a Brit, I'm aware of the differences. (when it says dc I do what the Brits call tc, etc etc)
I unravelled it and started again, and its done the same thing. The tension is correct. Do all hats look a bit odd in the middle stages? If so, will persevere to the end, then have a post mortem if necessary.

I saw in Interweave Crochet Magazine a pattern for the Moorish Mosaic Afghan, which I'm dying to make. Unfortunately it was in the Fall 2009 issue and I can't find the magazine anywhere now. Does anyone have it that could possibly scan the pattern and send it to me? I'd be forever grateful!

thanks!

Hello lovely fellow crocheters! Im so glad I found this community! My sister and I learned to crochet at the end of October and have been super ninjas with it since. :D My names Wendy, I havent been on LJ in forever but I found this community and have been looking around, wow you guys have some mad skills!
I plan to post some pics, they are all sitting in my camera..
I have a question though.
I want to make my boyfriend a blanket. His favorite colors are black and red. I was thinking something along a chevron type zig zag but have the reds fade from dark to light like a spectrum with separating rows of black. I want to make it really soft, but not spend a buttload of money on yarn, I know the red heart ss i have been using isnt going to be very soft, but I cant afford the six dollar a skein stuffs. :)
So my question is, what yarn would be best in your opinion? Does anyone know where I can find a pattern like this? I have tried searching for chevron patterns but I cant tell if they would work for this project.
And I know it sounds stupid, I am not good with colors. I am so afraid I'm going to buy a bunch of reds and then work them up and have them be totally different hues. So any tips on that would be awesome as well.
Thanks in advance and it is great to meet all of you!!

I started crocheting about two weeks ago now, and finished my first amigurumi yesterday... Yoda from star wars, a gift to the boyfriend for christmas. :)
I also have a question. When making amigurumi, how do you crochet the head and body to be the same part, rather than creating each piece seperately and then stitching them together? I tried doing decreases and increases without a pattern, but it didn't work out so well!
